Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

Message

Trusting in God

What is an anniversary? An annual observation of a past event.

The Key to an anniversary is to remember.

Welcome to the 120th issue of the MEM - ten years since the first issue, thus we remember. While returning from a Messianic convention a seed was planted to share the good news of what the Messiah is doing amongst His people. Trusting Messiah we began the MEM.

From issue #1 "Welcome to our first Messianic Email Message (MEM). We call it Messianic because we believe Messiah came approximately 2000 years ago to pay for the penalty of our sin and is about to come again to establish the 1000 year Messianic age. It is our desire to send out this message to all who are interested in the commonality we have in Messiah."

The MEM is directed toward those that have already accepted Yeshua (Jesus) as their personal Savior and if you have not, we encourage you to launch on a course that leads to eternal life. Trust Yeshua, the Son of God, the Savior, our peace.

Why we called it the MEM. It is short for Messianic Email Message; intended to be shared thru the www. Also in Hebrew the thirteenth letter of their Alphabet is the "מ" pronounced Mem - which is usually assumed to relate to water.

Gen 1:2 … and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. (the NAS version unless indicated)

John 7:37 Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.'"

For many Christians the New Testament is the sole basis for their spiritual understanding of Messiah (Christ). This is good and right. Many are also discovering the New Testament has its roots in the Hebrew Scriptures (called the Old Testament). Again and again Yeshua said, "It is written…" Those seeking a more complete understanding of YHVH’s (The LORD’s) plan for humankind are searching these Hebrew Scriptures for a better understanding of "what is written".

****

The term Messianic is sometimes miss-understood and may have a negative connotation. Looking online, the term "Messianic", gives us the impetus to share our heart with one another; all "For His Glory".

Messianic:

1) relating to Messiah (regarded as the Messiah prophesied in the Hebrew Bible)

2) of the Judaic/Christian golden age

3) of liberator (relating or belonging to an inspirational leader - regarded as savior)

4) involving great enthusiasm (with messianic fervor)

****

Messiah - The Christ, meaning, The Anointed One (in the Hebrew Bible, an anointed king who will … establish justice in the world)

Yeshua: the commonly accepted Hebrew name for Jesus, which means Salvation

Yeshua HaMashiach - Jesus the Christ

YHVH: English for the four Hebrew letters יהוה (read right to left Yod Heh Vav Heh). Called the Tetragrammaton usually translated in English Bibles as "the LORD".

Gen 2:4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD (יהוה) God made earth and heaven. (New American Standard - NAS)

Gen 2:4 These are births of the heavens and of the earth in their being prepared, in the day of Jehovah (יהוה) God's making earth and heavens; (Young’s Literal Translation - YLT)

We use these and other Hebrew names that give meaning and remind us that the Hebrew Scriptures are for our instruction, as we trust Yeshua to give us guidance.

****

It is our desire not only to make the Messianic connection throughout Scripture and to bring out other aspects of life in Messiah. The MEM includes a lighter side - interesting facts - tidbits - quotes and such to challenge. Also included are insights from others to enlighten our spiritual walk. Not only to encourage but to warn of the shortfall of modern day religiosity.

Each MEM issue strives to follow the theme of the "Message" topic. It is never meant to replace personal prayer or Bible study; we trust you are looking to Yeshua for His guidance.

Andrew Murray - Humility in daily life: "Let us study the Bible portrait of the most humble man that ever lived-the Lord Jesus. And let us ask our brethren and the world, whether they recognize in us the likeness to the original."

Humbly allow Yeshua to transform you to His image-to His likeness:

Gen 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…"

We encourage questions and comments. All 120 issues are available for review - there may be a topic of interest for you among them. As we progress our view may be re-shaped a bit because we desire to grow in Elohim’s (God’s) grace and knowledge.

May you be blessed in your fellowship with The Father and His Son - empowered by His Spirit.

Blessed be His Name.

Proverbs

Remember YHVH’s Words:

Proverbs 4:5 Acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments;

Being human we tend to forget - and if you are married it is not wise to forget your anniversary. Do not forget the commitment, the promise, the covenant you have made with your mate. Most of all do not forget your covenant with Yeshua.

****

Master of the Universe, keep us ever mindful of our place in Yeshua.

Saying (s)

"The Bible definitely is infallible, how else could it survive so many years of bad preaching?" Leonard Ravenhill

And so it is with all our humanity. How is it that we can stand and expound our own position or doctrine? We must study the written word of YHVH. Be sure to read the context when just a verse is given as proof or a doctrinal support. That goes for anything you might read in the MEM. Do not just accept it or file it away in your mind as proof unless you have truly searched and studied the Word for yourself.

Ps 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words…

Be as those of Berea: Acts 17:11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so. (they only had the Hebrew Scriptures to examine)

Father - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Thy sight, O LORD, my rock and my Redeemer. Ps 19:14

Humility

In our pursuit of humility:

(Lessons from humility and faith.)

"Humility is simply the disposition that prepares the soul for living in trust" Andrew Murray

****

Trust: Faith, reliance, confidence in and reliance on good qualities, especially fairness, truth, honor, or ability. It is the hope for the future, hopeful reliance on what will happen. It is our confidence that Yeshua will do what He has promised. Humility is letting Him be in charge.

2Chr 13:18 … the sons of Judah conquered because they trusted in the LORD, the God of their fathers.

Ps 9:10 And those who know Thy name will put their trust in Thee; For Thou, O LORD, hast not forsaken those who seek Thee.

****

Yeshua, Savior, we humbly put our trust in Your word - for You are our Redeemer.

Prayer

Understanding the precepts of prayer.

Solomon’s prayer at the dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem is filled with wisdom. We do well to read it again and again until we are convinced of its truth. Humbly go to YHVH with confidence for He does hear our prayers, He does answer, He will deliver us that we might glorify His Name. Ps 50:15 NLT Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.

2Chr 6:18 "But will God indeed dwell with mankind on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain Thee; how much less this house which I have built.

2Chr 6:19 "Yet have regard to the prayer of Thy servant and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which Thy servant prays before Thee; 20 that Thine eyes may be open toward this house day and night, toward the place of which Thou hast said that Thou wouldst put Thy name there, to listen to the prayer which Thy servant shall pray toward this place. 21 And listen to the supplications of Thy servant and of Thy people Israel, when they pray toward this place; hear Thou from Thy dwelling place, from heaven; hear Thou and forgive.

****

Our Father hear our prayers and forgive us according to thy abundant mercies that we might stand before you in the righteousness of Your Messiah, our Savior Yeshua - Amen

Heart of God

How does God feel about issues we face today?

Walking in Faith

Truly walking in faith is a difficult thing.  Yeshua chastised his disciples for their lack of faith.  How do you know if you are walking in faith?  If there is worry, doubt, disbelief and disobedience because you do not see the immediate future or outcome of the direction God has given for us to make, it is sin. It is the opposite of faith. Today, this moment is all you have control over. Don’t worry about the future events for you cannot prepare for every contingency. You can only be anchored in God. Practice your peace now in every situation and when it does get hard it will simply just be the next moment to trust Him. Walk in trust now in the little things, obedience in the little things and you will build your spiritual muscles so that when the world dumps on you, you will be able to stand in Him and not be moved or swayed from your path - the straight and narrow course He has set out for you.

Where does your assurance lie… in your own ability to do or in God to provide?

For we walk by faith, not by sight. (2Cor 5:7)

"My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government."

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

'I believe that banking institutions are  more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation,

of all property -

Stan Collender, Federal budget expert: "What the next president is looking at in 2013 is a steady series of cliffhangers. I’m not sure I see a way out of this unless everybody gets religion."

YHVH may we learn to live in Your trust and have the freedom to worship You in peace.

What Have We Learned in 2,065 Years?

"The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero, 55 BC

Evidently, nothing

The Modern Church

95 Theses to the Modern Evangelical Church

by Greg Gordon - (founder of SermonIndex.net)

78. Very few are waiting on God for His direction and purpose for His Church. (Eph 1:11; Ps 37:7; Isa 40:31)

79. The "church" has many organizers, but few agonizers. (Phil 3:18-19; Rom 9:1-3; Jer 9:1)

80. We need to have the gifts of the Spirit restored again to the "church". (2Tim 4:2; 1Cor 14:39; 1Cor 12:31)

Cause and Effect

Scribbles

(By Michael Boldea Jr.)

Woefully Unprepared

There are some who have never felt the exhaustion of battle. There are others still who have never had to deflect the enemy’s fiery arrows, who whether due to their indifference or their apathy remain to the day mere spectators in the spiritual war that is raging all around them. Countless souls revel in their slumber, unaware or unwilling to acknowledge the fact that the hour is at hand, the time is now, and are woefully unprepared for the battle ahead.

Rather than envy them, I pity such individuals, because without battle, they will never know the glory of victory, they will never grow, or ascend to higher spiritual truths, but remain in their spiritual infancy, waiting for the day when the enemy will overtake them…

Eph 6:11 Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

Consider

Do your best, and then be at rest.

Patience is the best remedy for every trouble.

Once you get started doing nothing, it’s hard to quit.

On those dreary, rainy days, do you wonder why anyone saves up for them?

Success is the ability to get along with some people and ahead of others.

You’re not a failure if you fall down, but you are if you stay down.

Swallow your pride occasionally; it’s nonfattening.

Are You Well Rooted?

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit. (Jeremiah 17:7,8; ESV)

Most of the time you can't tell how people are doing just by looking at them. I continue to be surprised at some of the horrific things people go through in life and the amount of unresolved trauma that haunts them.

While trouble and trauma are common human experiences, God did not design us to face such things on our own. Rather he has availed himself to us by providing sustenance for those times when our own resources are completely depleted.

So it is for those who trust in God. Trusting in God is not simply fulfilling religious rituals or spouting a creed. Trusting in God is a continuous giving of one's life to God in such a way that you accept his forgiveness and salvation through his provision of the Messiah, and allow him to determine the course of your life by following his directives. Trusting in God is not a passive state of non-engagement with the realities of life. On the contrary, it is cooperation with God as he desires to drive your roots deep down into himself so that you will be able to withstand all that he is leading you to face in life.

Though we often try, we cannot control our circumstances. Yet, we were not designed to face these things alone, left to our own meager resources. God intends that we should live our lives dependent on him. Moreover, the person who trusts in God is called "blessed." This is not about mere survival in hard times; it is about flourishing - even being a resource to others - when everything around us seeks to suck us dry.

Access to God's nourishing resources is available to anyone who puts their trust in him through Yeshua the Messiah. But perhaps this is something that you have done, yet you seem to be more like the dry shrub than the flourishing tree. Your willingness to admit it is your first step to effectively connecting with God's life-giving resources. Perhaps you have been trusting in yourself and others more than in him. Ask God to drive your roots down deep until you know his refreshing, life-giving nourishment.

Psalm Promise

Psalm 36:7-8

How precious is Thy lovingkindness, O God! And the children of men take refuge in the shadow of Thy wings. They drink their fill of the abundance of Thy house; And Thou dost give them to drink of the river of Thy delights.
