The Power

Pour out Your Power and Love

you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you Acts 1:8

(NAS unless noted bolding by MEM)

Yeshua (Jesus), the Son of God, has all Authority and Power

Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit

Luke 5:17 And it came about one day that He was teaching… and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing.

Acts 10:38 " You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil; for God was with Him.

Yeshua told His disciples to go make disciples and to teach them…

Matt 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

Yeshua imparts His power and authority

Luke 9:1 and gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to heal diseases.

Luke 10:19 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall injure you.

If we are His disciples today, all He spoke to the disciples applies to us also:

Acts 1:8 but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles were giving witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus…

Rom 1:4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead…

Rom 15:19 in the power of signs and wonders, in the power of the Spirit; …I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

1Cor 2:4 And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

Therefore His power can be our power

Rom 1:16 …the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…

Rom 15:13 … that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

2Pet 1:3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness…

2Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

Eph 1:19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might 20 which He brought about in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come. 22 And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Eph 3:16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man;

Eph 3:20 Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

Trust Him -

1Pet 3:22 who is at the right hand of God, having gone into heaven, after angels and authorities and powers had been subjected to Him.

Col 1:29 And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me.

However there is a Problem - Some are …

2Tim 3:5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power

To be sure there is a power from the dark side

Eph 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.

2Thess 2:9 the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,

There is A Higher Power to help us - over all evil powers - even over death

Acts 2:24 "And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

Heb 2:14 …that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them before our God day and night.

1Pet 1:5 protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Some saw a vision of the future Kingdom power

Mark 9:1 And He was saying to them, "Truly I say to you, there are some of those who are standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power."

1Cor 4:20 For the kingdom of God does not consist in words, but in power.

So we pray, "Thy Kingdom Come…"

Rev 11:17 saying, "We give Thee thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who art and who wast, because Thou hast taken Thy great power and hast begun to reign.

Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

Rev 7:12 saying, "Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen."

A Message from Proverbs on Power

Proverbs 3:27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.

Proverbs 8:14 "Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine.

Proverbs 24:5 A wise man is strong, And a man of knowledge increases power.

"There is but one true, real and right life for rational beings; only one life worth living, and worth living in this world, or in any other life, past, present, or to come. And that is the eternal life which was before all worlds, and will be after all are passed away - and that is neither more nor less than a good life; a life of good feelings, good thoughts, good words, good deeds - the life of Christ and of God." Charles Kingsley

John 14:12 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also…

Did you know?

DEFINITION OF ACCELERATION (man seems to gravitate toward power)

One top fuel dragster 500 cubic inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows of stock cars at the Daytona 500.

It takes just 15/100ths (0.15) of a second for all 6,000+ horsepower (some believe 8,000 HP is more realistic - there are no dynamometers capable of measuring) of an NHRA Top Fuel dragster engine to reach the rear wheels.

Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1-1/2 gallons of nitromethane per second; a fully loaded 747 consumes jet fuel at the same rate with 25% less energy being produced.

A stock Dodge Hemi V8 engine cannot produce enough power to drive the dragster's supercharger.

With 3,000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition.

Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle.

At the stoichiometric (stoichiometry: methodology and technology by which quantities of reactants and products in chemical reactions are determined) 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture of nitromethane, the flame front temperature measures 7,050 deg. F. (Oxy-acetylene on "cut" is 6,300)

Nitro methane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.

Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.

Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during one pass. After halfway, the engine is dieseling from compression, plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1,400 deg. F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting the fuel flow.

If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in the affected cylinders and then explodes with sufficient force to blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half.

In order to exceed 300 mph in 4.5 seconds, dragsters must accelerate an average of over 4G's. In order to reach 200 mph well before half-track, the launch acceleration approaches 8G's.

Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have completed reading this sentence.

Top fuel engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light! Including the burnout, the engine must only survive 900 revolutions under load.

The redline is actually quite high at 9,500 rpm.

Assuming all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, and for once NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs an estimate $1,000.00 per second.

The current top fuel dragster elapsed time record is 4.428 seconds for the quarter mile (11/12/06, Tony Schumacher, at Pomona, CA). The top speed record is 336.15 mph as measured over the last 66' of the run (05/25/05 Tony Schumacher, at Hebron, OH).

Putting all of this into perspective:

You are driving the average $140,000 Lingenfelter 'twin-turbo' powered Corvette Z06. Over a mile up the road, a top fuel dragster is staged and ready to launch down a quarter mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard up through the gears and blast across the starting line and pass the dragster at an honest 200 mph. The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that instant.

The dragster launches and starts after you. You keep your foot down hard, but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums and within 3 seconds, the dragster catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter mile away from where you just passed him.

Think about it, from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 mph and not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1,320 foot long race course.

...... And that is ACCELERATION!

e. power and resources arising from numbers

f. power consisting in or resting upon armies, forces, hosts

Total KJV Occurrences: 95

might, 4

power, 58

strength, 5

works, 7

Able: G1410 (Strong) - Transliteration: Dunamai - Phonetic: doo'-nam-ahee

- Definition:

1. to be able, have power whether by virtue of one's own ability and resources, or of a state of mind, or through favorable circumstances, or by permission of law or custom

2. to be able to do something

3. to be capable, strong and powerful

Ability to act or produce an effect; the possession of authority over others. These two aspects of power are often related in Scripture. Because God has revealed His power in the act of creation, He has authority to assign dominion to whomever He wills (Jer. 10:12; 27:5). God revealed His power by miraculously delivering Israel from Egyptian slavery (Exod. 4:21; 9:16; 15:6; 32:11) and in the conquest of Canaan (Ps. 111:6). God’s acts are foundational for His claim on Israel. God’s power includes not only the power to judge but also the power to forgive sin (Num. 14:15-19; Jer. 32:17-18). 2Kgs 3:15 "But now bring me a minstrel." And it came about, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him - this links the onrush of the power of God with prophecy. Here power approximates God’s Spirit (cp. Mic. 3:8; Luke 1:35).

Christ’s miracles evidenced the power of God at work in His ministry (Matt. 14:2; Mark 5:30; 9:1; Luke 4:36; 5:17). Luke highlighted the role of the Holy Spirit in empowering the ministry of Jesus (Luke 4:14; Acts 10:38) and the ongoing ministry of the church (Acts 1:8; 3:12; 4:7, 33; 6:8). Paul stressed the paradox that the cross-what is apparently Jesus’ greatest moment of weakness-is the event in which God’s power to save is realized (1 Cor. 1:17-18; cp. Rom. 1:16). This scandal of God’s power revealed in Christ’s death continues in God’s choice to work through the powerless (1 Cor. 1:26-29; 2:3-4; 2 Cor. 12:9). In some texts "powers" refer to angelic powers (Rom. 8:38; Eph. 3:10; Col. 2:15; 1 Pet. 3:22).

His Power - And His Authority

Jer 10:12 It is He who made the earth by His power, Who established the world by His wisdom; And by His understanding He has stretched out the heavens.

He has Authority to assign His Power

Jer 27:5 "I have made the earth, the men and the beasts which are on the face of the earth by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and I will give it to the one who is pleasing in My sight.

Exod 4:21 And the LORD said to Moses, "When you go back to Egypt see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in your power

Yeshua (Jesus) has the power of God

Mark 5:30 And immediately Jesus, perceiving in Himself that the power proceeding from Him had gone forth, turned around in the crowd and said, "Who touched My garments?"

Luke 5:17 And it came about one day that He was teaching; … and the power of the Lord was present for Him to perform healing.

Power as mentioned in the first Covenant (Note! Same God, Same Power)

Power - Transliteration: Koach - Phonetic: ko'-akh

- Definition:

1. strength, power, might

a. human strength

b. strength (of angels)

c. power (of God)

d. strength (of animals)

e. strength, produce, wealth (of soil)

TWOT 973 (kḥḥ). Assumed root of the following.

973a (kôaḥ) strength, power, ability, might, force, substance.

Capacity to act, understood both in physical and figurative terms …a noun, appears 126 times in the ot.

In a static sense kôaḥ suggests the capacity to endure, as of a stone (Job 6:12), but more commonly it expresses potency, capacity to produce. This may be expressed in sexual terms (Job 40:16; Gen 49:3), or it may express the product of the earth’s potency (Gen 4:12; Job 31:39; etc.), but usually physical strength is intended, as in the references to Samson (Jud 16:5; etc.). By extension the word comes to connote general ability to cope with situations (Deut 8:17-18; I Chr 29:14; Ezr 10:13; etc.).

When applied to God, this term suggests that he is indeed omnipotent. His power is seen in creation (Jer 10:12; 32:17; etc.), in the Exodus events (Ex 9:16; 15:6; etc.), in his capacity to subdue his enemies (Job 36:19) and deliver his people (Isa 63:1). As compared to his power, human strength is nothing (II Chr 20:6; Job 37:23; Ps 33:16; Amos 2:14; etc.). The folly of relying upon human strength alone is seen both in Job and in the story of Samson. He is strongest who has discovered the finite limitations of his own capacities in the light of the limitless resources of God through his Spirit (Job 36:22; Isa 40:31; Mic 3:8; Zech 4:6).

Exod 3:8 "So I have come down to deliver them from the power of the Egyptians

Exod 13:3 … for by a powerful hand the LORD brought you out from this place

Num 11:23 And the LORD said to Moses, "Is the LORD's power limited? …"

Deut 8:18 "But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

All power is in the hand of YHVH (the LORD)

1Chr 29:11 "Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O LORD, and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all. 12 Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand is power and might; and it lies in Thy hand to make great, and to strengthen everyone.

Job 36:22 "Behold, God is exalted in His power; Who is a teacher like Him?

Ps 62:11 Once God has spoken; Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God;

Ps 77:15 Thou hast by Thy power redeemed Thy people…

Ps 145:11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, And talk of Thy power;

Isa 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power Not one of them is missing.

Dan 2:20 Daniel answered and said, "Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, For wisdom and power belong to Him.

Nah 1:3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power, And the LORD will by no means leave the guilty unpunished. In whirlwind and storm is His way, And clouds are the dust beneath His feet.

He empowers mankind

Eccl 5:19 Furthermore, as for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, He has also empowered him to eat from them and to receive his reward and rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God.

Mic 3:8 On the other hand I am filled with power -- With the Spirit of the LORD -- And with justice and courage To make known to Jacob his rebellious act, Even to Israel his sin.

Eternal One Pour out Your Spirit upon us that we be like You

Zech 4:6 Then he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.

Life in Messiah

Bearing the Power of His Resurrection

Have you ever seen an altar of sacrifice? The shape, size, and construction are not really important but every church should have a place where people can consecrate themselves to God. In this case it is for the living rather than a place of death, but in a larger sense it is a place to lay down your life that you may really live. For He has called you to lay down your life bearing about in your body His death that the power of His resurrection may also be manifested in you. (Adopted from a blog post by Dale Cresap)

Rom 12:1 I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

2Cor 12:9 And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

Cause and Effect

Isa 58:6 "Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke? 7 Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry, And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

It is said the one thing you are never supposed to do under any circumstance, if you are ever caught in quicksand, is struggle. Even though on a logical level we know that the more one struggles the faster they sink, given the chance, most of would likely struggle because this is our default reaction when we feel ourselves getting stuck.

When you feel your feet slipping and find yourself falling, you will grasp at anything including straws, hoping to find purchase and stop the fall. I look around today and I see a lot of people grasping at straws. More and more individuals are beginning to feel the slip and intuit the subsequent fall and it is their default reaction to try and find purchase, to try and find stability, to return to that safe space wherein the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and tomorrow promised to be a brighter day than yesterday.

Concern has given way to all out fear and many a soul is looking for a safe place, a shelter from the storm, something to make them feel secure and give them reassurance. The only problem is that most men, even many within the household of faith, are looking for that sense of safety and reassurance somewhere other than in Christ Jesus. They are searching high and low trying to find that blessed hope that can only be found at the foot of the cross, and because the number of those searching has multiplied exponentially, so have the wolves that see and opportunity to cash in on the fear and uncertainty.

No matter where you turn nowadays someone is hocking something that promises to make you and your family safer, more secure, and more likely to weather the storm. Whether fifteen years’ worth of dried food, or self-cleaning undergarments, high tech bomb shelters or scent-be-gone in case you get chased by dogs, a cottage industry has developed and is thriving all based on uncertainty and fear for tomorrow.

Throughout all of this hubbub, throughout all of this clamoring to get the last of the flashlights or kerosene lamps or self-lighting briquettes, Jesus seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle, and the one thing we are all supposed to be doing, namely seeking the Lord while He may be found, is something fewer and fewer individuals seem to want to do.

What many fail to grasp is that seeking the Lord and calling upon Him are not elective endeavors. They are not something we can choose not to do because we were busy doing other things, nor are they something that the Word insinuates as being optional. As believers, our first resort must be the Lord, and in Him we will find protection. To seek these things anywhere else other than in Jesus, is to waste the precious little time we have left, the precious little time in which He may be found and in which He is near.

Dark days are upon us. Of this there is no doubt. Another certainty many are beginning to acknowledge is that before it’s all over they will be much darker still.

As children of God we have the blessed assurance that He is with us. The God of all creation, He who spoke the universe into being, is with us. What have we to fear? What can we do in and of our own strength that He cannot do? Be at peace beloved, God is with you.

Luke 21:28 "But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

With love in Christ
