Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

To Know Him

To Know Him - is To be like Him

To Know Him - is to have a relationship with Him

In the last MEM we considered "Mercy". When Yeshua (Jesus) came preaching the good news of the Kingdom of God He instructed His disciples to be like the Father, to obey, as Yeshua obeyed, and do as the Father said. By being merciful to those in need we are expressing God’s attitude toward others.

Why? Because we know Him.

Luke 6:36 "Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

John 17:3 (NAS unless indicated) "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding, in order that we might know Him who is true…

King Jehoiakim gets a lesson on priorities

Being merciful and being just is to know YHVH

Jeremiah 22:13 (CJB) "Woe to him who builds his palace unfairly, its upper rooms by injustice; who makes his neighbor work for free and will not give him his wages; 14 who says, `I will build me a spacious palace with airy upper rooms, … cedar panels painted with vermilion! 15 Your cedar may be excellent, but that doesn't make you a better king. True, your father ate and drank, but he also did what was right and just, so things went well with him. 16 He upheld the cause of the poor and the weak, so everything went well. Isn't that what knowing me is all about?" says ADONAI.

Delight in understanding and knowing the Almighty

Jeremiah 9:23-24

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness [mercy], justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things," declares the LORD.

The New Covenant is about knowing the Eternal One

Jeremiah 31:33 "But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days," declares the LORD, "I will put My law within them, and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 And they shall not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they shall all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them," declares the LORD, "for I will forgive [pardon] their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

In need of a relationship with YHVH? Seek Him with a whole heart

1 Chronicles 28:9 "As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.

How do we know we know Him? By His Mercy and our obedience

Luke 10:22 "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."

1 John 2:3 And by this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

Think you are doing ok? What does Master Yeshua say? Where is the relationship? What separates the righteous from the lawless ones?

Matt 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.' 24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine, and acts upon them, may be compared to a wise man, who built his house upon the rock.

Because they were Merciful - What will it be? Sheep or goats? By our actions

Matt 25:31 "But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. 32 And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; 33 and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; 36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'

Matt 25:37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You drink? 38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? 39 'And when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40 "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

Matt 25:41 "Then He will also say to those on His left, 'Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; 42 for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; 43 I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.'

Matt 25:44 "Then they themselves also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?' 45 Then He will answer them, saying, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'

Matt 25:46 "And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Yeshua is the image of the Father

Col 1:15 And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation.

And we are to be in the image of the Son

Rom 8:29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first-born among many brethren;

1Cor 15:49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Col 3:10 and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him

A Daily process of being transformed

2Cor 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Therefore to know Him is to be like Him and to be like Him (in His image) means we will walk like Him. One way is to be Merciful as He is merciful, expressing His mercy to those around us, in the end it really counts.

YHVH bless you and grant you His grace and peace. Empowering us to be sons of the Living Elohim - Amen

From Proverbs

The way of Godly Knowledge

Proverbs 2:2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom, Incline your heart to understanding; 3 For if you cry for discernment, Lift your voice for understanding; 4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will discern the fear of the LORD, And discover the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk in integrity, 8 Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones.

"The most I can do for a friend is simply be his friend"

Henry David Thoreau

_____

To know someone as a friend…

John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are My friends, if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you, and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask of the Father in My name, He may give to you. 17 This I command you, that you love one another.

To Know - Knowledge

Know - to Know

ISBE: (edited for length)

(in Hebrew chiefly yadha`; in Greek ginosko, oida' "to know fully,"):

Knowledge strictly is the apprehension by the mind of some fact or truth in accordance with its real nature; in a personal relation the intellectual act is necessarily conjoined with the element of affection and will (choice, love, favor, etc.).

Knowledge is distinguished from "opinion" by its greater certainty. The mind is constituted with the capacity for knowledge, and the desire to possess and increase it. The senses give knowledge of outward appearances; the intellect connects and reasons about these appearances, and arrives at general laws or truths; moral truth is apprehended through the power inherently possessed by men of distinguishing right and wrong in the light of moral principles; spiritual qualities require for their apprehension spiritual sympathy ("They are spiritually judged," 1Co 2:14). The highest knowledge possible to man is the knowledge of God…, God is knowable in the measure in which He has revealed Himself in creation (Rom 1:19; Rom 1:20 etc.), and supremely in Jesus Christ, who alone perfectly knows the Father, and reveals Him to man (Mt 11:27). This knowledge of God in Jesus Christ is "life eternal" (Joh 17:3). …God's knowledge is absolute, unerring, complete, intuitive, embracing all things, past, present, and future, and searching the inmost thoughts of the heart (Ps 139:1; Ps 139:23); whereas man's is partial, imperfect, relative, gradually acquired, and largely mixed with error ("Now we see in a mirror darkly .... in part," 1Co 13:12). … but the greatest stress also is laid on the possession of moral and spiritual knowledge (e.g. Ps 119:66; Prov 1:4; Prov 1:7; Prov 1:22; Prov 1:29; Prov 8:10…; Luke 1:77; Rom 15:14; 2Pet 1:5; 2Pet 1:6). The highest knowledge, as said, is the knowledge of God and Christ, and of God's will (Hos 6:6; Rom 11:33; Eph 1:17; Eph 4:13; Phil 1:9; Phil 3:8; Col 1:9; Col 1:10, etc.). The moral conditions of spiritual knowledge are continually insisted on ("If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God," Joh 7:17). James Orr

Webster 1828

KNOW, v.t.

1. To perceive with certainty; to understand clearly; to have a clear and certain perception of truth, fact, or any-thing that actually exists. To know a thing pre includes all doubt or uncertainty of its existence. We know what we See with our eyes, or perceive by other senses. We know that fire and water are different substances. We know that truth and falsehood express ideas incompatible with each other. We know that a circle is not a square. We do not know the truth of reports, nor can we always know what to believe.

2. To be informed of; to be taught. It is not unusual for us to say we know things from information, when we rely on the veracity of the informer.

3. To distinguish; as, to know one man from another. We know a fixed star from a planet by its twinkling.

4. To recognize by recollection, remembrance, representation or description. We do not always know a person after a long absence. We sometimes know a man by having Seen his portrait…

5. To be no stranger to; to be familiar. This man is well known to us.

6. In scripture, to have sexual commerce with. Gen 4.

7. To approve.

The Lord knoweth the way of the righteous. Psa 1.

8. To learn. Prov 1.

9. To acknowledge with due respect. 1 Th 5.

10. To choose; to favor or take an interest in. Amos 3.

11. To commit; to have.

He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin. 2Cor.

12. To have full assurance of; to have satisfactory evidence of any thing, though short of certainty.

Be merciful to the Poor

Again and again Scripture points out the Eternal One’s concern for the poor, the orphan and the widow - we can be God’s vessel by extending a merciful, helping, hand to them.

The poor and mercy

Scriptures mostly from the NKJV

Mark 12:42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing. {mite=a small brass coin, worth about one cent} 43 And He called to His disciples, and said to them, Truly I say to you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they who have cast into the treasury.

Mark 14:7 For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you desire you may do them good

Not just a physical poor but spiritually poor

Luke 4:18 The Spirit of YHWH is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor (4434); He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are bruised,

Caution!

Revelation 3:17 Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.

Heart of God

How does God feel about issues we face today?

Books

Do you love books? The written word has provided a very effective communication method for all of recorded history. In essence it connects a reader with an author. How do you regard the Bible? Is it an illustration of this principle too, or is it in a special category and exempt from this rule? In other words, is it possible to know the Bible without knowing the author of the Bible? If so this is not a desirable situation. Yeshua (Jesus) dealt with the same thing in His ministry on earth. The Pharisees knew the scriptures that testified of the Messiah but they didn’t recognize Him when present with them. These things were written that you may believe and know the one the Father sent.  (Adopted from a blog post by Dale Cresap)

Ps 46:8 KJV Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. 9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

Ps 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. 11 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Knowing God

God’s word tells you to be still and know that He is God. This implies that there is a connection between stillness and knowing. Is this how you know other things? A diligent search for knowledge implies proactive involvement. You have many resources available to you for all the facts in the world. Yet knowing God is different. This is a journey in which you make greater progress by slowing down and calming down. The world and its distractions and your own racing thoughts are too prominent in your awareness. If you want to know the author of life, release those things and He will come to you.  (Adopted from a blog post by Dale Cresap)

The Amazing B-24 Bomber and our former glory

Henry Ford was determined that he could mass produce bombers just as he had done with cars for the IIWW. He built the Willow Run assembly plant and proved it… It was the world's largest building under one roof, even then FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA!

This film will absolutely blow you away - one B-24 every 55 minutes. ADOLF HITLER HAD NO IDEA THE U.S. WAS CAPABLE OF THIS KIND OF THING. There is no way he could have even guessed.

For those who live outside of Michigan, Willow Run is near Bellville, Canton and Ypsilanti, MI

It's amazing that one B-24 came off the assembly line every 55 minutes

Take a few minutes to watch this snapshot of history.

  • You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
  • You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.
  • Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
  • You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
  • The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
  • Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
  • The cows are giving evaporated milk.
  • Do you have a few sayings after 2016, the hottest year on record?
