Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

The Saints of the Most High

Who are the Holy ones?

What is a saint?

Ps 47:8 God reigns over the nations! God sits on his holy throne!

Ps 15:1 …Who may live on your holy hill?

The holy ones; the saints

Our Calling, our goal

1Pet 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

The saints will reign with Jesus the Christ

  • Dan 7:27 Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him.'
  • 1Thess 3:13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

Last issue we defined the word Saint from the old and new testaments:

Saints, holy, separate, set apart; sacred (physically pure morally blameless or religious ceremonially consecrated*): pure from carnality - b) pure from every fault - c) clean

*(Consecrated by God to be His own: see next section.)

Note: Same verse three different translations

The word saints and holy ones (or holy people) are used interchangeably for the same Hebrew or Greek word.

Dan 7:27 CJB Then the kingdom, the ruler ship and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven will be given to the holy people (saints) of the Most High

Dan 7:27 LXX And the kingdom and the power and the greatness of the kings that are under the whole heaven were given to the saints of the Most High

Dan 7:27 NLT Then the sovereignty, power, and greatness of all the kingdoms under heaven will be given to the holy people of the Most High. They will rule forever, and all rulers will serve and obey them."

Here we see the holy people are the saints.

Holy Ones and Saints are used interchangeably - depending on the translation

Dan 7:18 CJB But the holy ones of the Most High will receive the kingdom …

Dan 7:27 NKJV Then the kingdom …Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High…

Zech 14:5 Net … Then the LORD my God will come with all his holy ones with him.

Jude 1:14 NKJV Now Enoch… saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,

Now how can mortal man be made a saint? How can man be holy, sanctified, set-apart and blameless?

Webster 1828:

Holy: whole, perfect, in a moral sense… pure in heart, temper or dispositions; free from sin and sinful affections. …and as man is more or less sanctified, or purified from evil dispositions…when his heart is conformed in some degree to the image of God

Sanctified: To make or declare to be sacred…; to set apart, dedicate, or devote, to the service and worship of God.

A key to understanding holy is found in the exodus, the tabernacle and the priestly system.

To be Holy is to be acceptable to the Creator because He is The Holy One; His very presents makes the surroundings holy:

  • Isa 6:3 They called out to one another, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!"
  • Exod 3:5 God said, "Do not approach any closer! Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." (To Moses)
  • Deut 23:14 For the LORD your God walks about in the middle of your camp to deliver you and defeat your enemies for you. Therefore your camp should be holy, so that he does not see anything indecent among you and turn away from you.
  • Lev 19:2 "Speak to the whole congregation of the Israelites and tell them, ‘You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.

So where the most Holy one is there is holiness; the ground, the camp, the people -

  • Lev 21:23 …Thus he must not profane my holy places, for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.’"
  • Lev 22:32 You must not profane my holy name, and I will be sanctified in the midst of the Israelites. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,
  • Exod 29:43 There I will meet with the Israelites, and it will be set apart as holy by my glory.

For example: God made the seventh day holy.

How? By resting on that day and declaring it holy.

Gen 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work …

Exod 20:8 "Remember the Sabbath day to set it apart as holy.

Exod 20:11 … the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

How are we to treat the Sabbath?

Isa 58:13 You must observe the Sabbath rather than doing anything you please on my holy day. You must look forward to the Sabbath and treat the LORD’s holy day with respect. You must treat it with respect by refraining from your normal activities, and by refraining from your selfish pursuits and from making business deals.

Ezek 20:20 Treat my Sabbaths as holy and they will be a reminder of our relationship, and then you will know that I am the LORD your God."

The Sabbaths are a sign of His people (saints, holy ones; that He sanctifies; sets apart as holy)

Exod 31:13 "… 'Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

God’s appointed times and assemblies are holy

Lev 23:2 "… ‘These are the LORD’s appointed times which you must proclaim as holy assemblies - my appointed times:

There are holy things and places; and some are even most holy - we can learn from this!

Josh 5:15 …"… because the place where you stand is holy." Joshua did so.

Exod 28:2 holy garments

Num 5:17 holy water

Dan 11:28 the holy covenant

Jonah 2:7 …holy temple.

Exod 39:30 holy diadem, … an inscription… "Holiness to the LORD."

Judg 3:2 holy war.

Ps 2:6 "… Zion, my holy hill."

Isa 52:1 … holy city

1Sam 21:4 holy bread

Deut 23:14 your camp should be holy

Ezra 8:28 You are holy vessels are holy

Exod 30:26-29 "… anoint the tabernacle of meeting …the ark of the Testimony; the tableits utensils lampstandits utensils… the altar of incense; the altar of burnt offeringits utensilsthe laver ..its base. 29 (ESV) You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy. (Note) Whatever touches them will become holy.

Lev 6:18 Anyone who touches these gifts must be holy.’" (At that time on the Priests were holy)

The holy ones are set apart to be His special people

Deut 28:9 The LORD will designate you as his holy people just as he promised you, if you keep his commandments and obey him.

Rev 1:6 and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father…

If called to be priests, what is one’s responsibility?

Lev 10:10 … to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,

Isa 52:11 … Stay pure, you who carry the LORD’s holy items!

How can we be a holy one? (Holiness is Christ in us; He makes us holy; by His Holy Spirit.)

The new covenant

Jer 31:31 " Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant -- 33 I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 "No more shall every man teach his neighbor, …for they all shall know Me… For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more."

Luke 22:20 … saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

2 Corinthians 3:6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Hebrews 9:15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

The new man

Eph 4:24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

1Thess 4:7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

Heb 12:10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them, but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

How do we obtain His holiness? (By the Holy Spirit’s guiding and revelation; by His Spirit in us)

John the Baptist

Matthew 3:11 "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Yeshua (Jesus)

John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever -- 17 the Spirit of truth… you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; …and He will tell you things to come.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit… will teach you all things…

Acts 1:8 "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you…"

Apostle John

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

Apostle Peter

Acts 2:33 "… the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

What shall we do?

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" 38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

1 Corinthians 2:10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

Without the Holy Spirit you cannot be part of God’s family

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." … 5 … "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

Admonishment

Galatians 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Psalms 51:11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Revelation 3:22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." ' "

Summary:

A saint is a holy one. A key to understanding about holiness is found in the Torah as Peter tells us.

1Pet 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

It is Christ’s righteousness, dwelling in us, that makes a saint holy. Where the Holy One is present there is holiness. It is Yeshua’s Spirit - the Holy Spirit - that makes us acceptable to God; for He is Holy and we also must be holy to be worthy of His Kingdom.

Saint and Holiness

From ISBE: (eidited)

It should also be noted … to be a saint is not directly and primarily to be good but to be set apart by God as His own, yet the godly and holy character ought inevitably and immediately be the result. When God consecrates and claims moral beings for Himself and His service, He demands that they should go on to be fit for and worthy of the relation in which He has placed them, and so we read of certain actions as performed "worthily of the saints" (Ro 16:2) and as such "as becomes saints" (Eph 5:3). The thought of the holy character of the "saints," which is now so common as almost completely to obscure the real thought of the New Testament writers, already lay in their thinking very close to their conception of saint-ship as consecration by God to be His own. David Foster Estes

AmTrac: SAINT - A holy person, a friend of God, either on earth or in heaven, De 33:2.

Holiness:

Exodus 15:11 "Who is like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Ps 29:2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Jer 2:3 Israel was holiness to the LORD

Amos 4:2 The Lord GOD has sworn by His holiness

Rom 1:4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness

2Cor 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

1Thess 4:7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

Heb 12:10 … but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

Heb 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

LIFE IN MESSIAH

Representing God’s Kingdom

"Do you dare to speak for The Almighty God? For it is a fearful thing to speak for the Living God and represent him to those around you. This is something to be done soberly and carefully, for it is the ultimate subject of conversation and has profound eternal implications. Yet the greater question is whether you dare not speak for Him. For He has given you the great commission to preach the gospel to every creature. This is not for a select few, but for every believer. You should strive for diligence and accuracy, but you can only speak according to your own understanding. Being unable to do this perfectly is not an excuse for not doing it at all. For you have a powerful ally in this task. The Holy Spirit is in favor of this task and will give you the right words and work with them to make them effective in the hearts of those who hear you. Blessed are those who preach the gospel of the good news of God’s kingdom."

Holiness

"You know that it is important to serve God. His word is full of references to serve Him and serve others. He who is greatest in the Kingdom of God is the servant of all, and the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and give His life. Yet The Word also says that without holiness no man shall see the Lord. So holiness is another essential aspect of a life that is pleasing to our Creator. Do you see a unifying basis between these two things? They are both expressions of obedience. The servant obeys his master and carries out his expressed wishes. Those who seek holiness keep His commandments. Obey Him in all things and you will be a holy servant, a vessel unto honor, equipped for every good work.

(Adapted from a Dale Cresap blog)

Saying

Daily contact with the Holy One

"There is little right giving because there is little right living, and because of the lack of sympathetic contact with God in holiness of heart, there is a lack of effectual contact with him at the Throne of Grace. Living, praying, giving and going will always be found together, and a low standard in one means a general debility in the whole spiritual being." - Arthur T. Pierson

LIGHTER SIDE?

Don't like to bring this up but apparently, we've got another new variant

We are still battling COVID-19 but the next thing is here already.

Virologists have identified a new Nile virus - type C.

It appears to target those who were born between 1930 & 1970.

Symptoms:

1. Sending the same email twice.

2. Sending a blank email.

3. Sending a message to the wrong person.

4. Sending it back to the person who sent it to you.

5. Forgetting to attach the attachment.

6. Hitting SEND before you've finished.

7. Hitting DELETE instead of SEND.

8. Hitting SEND when you should hit DELETE.

That is why it is called the C-NILE virus.

If you cannot admit to doing the above, you have obviously caught the mutated strain - the D-NILE virus.
