Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.

The End Times Commentary

Chapter Two

The Great Prophet

Hear Him

That we might hear

This series of messages is mainly meant for the brotherhood in Messiah. The Scripture verses are just a reference and a reminder to fully study the context in His Word for a better understanding. The goal is to stir in us a zealous desire to know God and His Word; to obey and to hone our relationship with Him; to be able to hear the voice of His Spirit, as we prepare to reign with our King at His return.

What in the world is going on?

  • Can we find Scriptures that reflect the events of our times?
  • Are we really living in the last days or end times?
  • Are we being misled - deceived - bombarded by false information and false prophets?
  • What is the condition of the Church at this time?
  • How should God’s people (the saints) be reacting in light of today’s circumstances?
  • Does God’s written Word address the unsettling times we see around us?
  • What are some of the Scriptural "Sound" advice the saints are to adhere to in times like this?
  • What should a saint truly look like in these trying times?
  • Are we Seeking The Truth? That is the name of our web site
  • (See section below titled "Seeking The Truth")

There are many other questions we might ask but let us get started.

Quick review from previous issue:

Because YHVH (The LORD) knows the end - from the very beginning.

Isa 46:10 (NKJV unless indicated) Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,' (See also Isa 55:11; Isa 48:3-5)

The end Times in Scripture is referred to by many terms:

  • Latter Days Deut 31:29; Dan 10:14
  • Time of the End Dan 12:4; Dan 12:9
  • End of the Days - Till the end Dan 12:13
  • The last Days Gen 49:1-2
  • Times far off Ezek 12:27
  • The end of this Age Matt 13:39
  • Jacob’s Trouble - A Time of Trouble - Day of trouble - At that time Jer 30:7; Prov 3:25; Jer 8:15; Daniel 12:1; Mark 13:8
  • Day of Judgment - Hour of trial 2 Peter 2:9; Rev 19:2; Rev 3:10
  • The day of the LORD or the LORD’s wrath, anger… Joel 2:11; Zeph 1:14; Isa 2:12; Jer 46:10; Ezek 30:3; Amos 5:18; Obad 1:15; Zeph 1:14; Mal 4:5; Acts 2:20; 1Cor 5:5; 1Thess 5:2; 2Pet 3:10

Then there is the Good News!

The Kingdom of God. That is Yeshua’s return; after the wrath of God, to set up His 1,000 year reign on planet Earth.

When?

At the end of this age; "The Days are Coming"; "At that time"; "In the Latter Days" or "In those Days" Hos 3:5; Jeremiah 23:5-6; Jeremiah 33:15-16; Ezekiel 34:23

"The Great Prophet" - Hear Him

The Great Prophet

Prophesied by Moses and the prophets - none other than our Savior Yeshua (Jesus):

Deut 18:15 "The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear,

John 1:45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote -- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

This Prophet (Yeshua) admonished, the seven churches - (that includes us)

Rev 3:22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." *

So do we have a key for knowing our future, and the end time events? Yes, indeed we do!

Isa 48:16 "Come near to Me, hear this: I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; From the time that it was, I was there. And now the Lord GOD and His Spirit Have sent Me."

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Then the key is having the promised and prophesied Holy Spirit - hear His voice

John 10:27 "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

The question is "Are we His sheep? And are we following Him?"

We are to "hear" that is, "listen", or "pay attention" to "do" or "keep" what the Spirit is saying?

Again and again in Scripture we read:

Rev 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches(seven times in Rev 2 and 3)

Matt 13:43 "Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Matt 7:24 " Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: (See also Rev 2:29, 3:6, 3:13, 3:22; Mark 4:23, 7:16; Luke 14:35)

If we understand correctly we will not be taken by surprise by End Times events. If we are listening and obeying what the Creator gave us about end time prophesies thru Yeshua (Jesus); as in Matthew chapters 24-25 and all of "The Revelation".

Matt 24:3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?"

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants -- things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw. (The testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy; see Rev 19:10)

Blessed are those that hear and keep what the Spirit inspired to be written

Rev 1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.

Luke 11:28 But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"

Rev 22:7 "Behold, I am coming quickly! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

Note some of the benefits for hearing and overcoming written in The Revelation to the churches:

Rev 2:7 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God." '

Rev 2:11 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death." '

Rev 2:17 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it." '

Rev 2:26 "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations -- 27 He shall rule them with a rod of iron… 28 and I will give him the morning star.

Rev 3:5 "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

Rev 3:12 "He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.

Rev 3:21 "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Whatever you ‘HEAR’

Matt 10:27 " Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops.

Matt 11:4 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: 5 The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."

Matt 11:15 "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

In the Sower and the Seed parable - All heard but not all responded

Matt 13:16 "But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.

Matt 13:18 " Therefore hear the parable of the sower:

Matt 13:19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 "But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 "yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 "Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

Matt 13:43 "Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Some do not hear or refuse to ‘hear’ - that is they hear but do not respond or obey or bear fruit (as above)

Matt 13:13 "Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand 14 "And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: 'Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.'

Matt 18:16 "But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that 'by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.' 17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

Matt 19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Make no mistake many end time prophecies are not just in the New Testament (NT). We will present some of them but the focus is what is spoken by Yeshua and the NT writers.

Summary: It is the Torah, the Prophets, the writings of the Hebrew Scriptures and what Yeshua and writers of the NT present to us that gives us a vivid picture of end time events so that we may know there is a Creator God that knows the end from the beginning. He reveals the end times in His inspired, written Word and thru His Holy Spirit, to the churches and those that chose to hear and obey Him - Rev 3:22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

*The scripture references are not exhaustive; they are to give the essence of their heading

In this Commentary when statements are supported by Scripture it may only be one or two verses. Even though many more could be used. Because this is the writer’s understanding (at this time) it may be in some cases subjective; thankfully we have His Word and His Spirit to keep us on the straight and narrow way.

Blessings

Seeking The Truth

There is only one source for truth

- One must desire truth

- One must seek truth and want to keep it

Ps 27:4 (NKJV unless indicated) One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple.

Ps 37:4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Matt 6:33 "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Matt 7:7 " Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

The Anti-Truth source - The Liar

John 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

The Source of Truth and the Grace

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

John 18:37 … "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice."

John 17:17 "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.

Psalms 119:160 The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.

Psalms 119:142 Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, And Your law is truth.

John 6:63 "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

How we are enabled to know the Truth

John 1:33 "I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

John 3:5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever --

John 14:18 "I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

John 16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

It is the Helper - The Spirit of Truth - our key to truth

John 15:26 " But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.

John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 14:17 "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 16:13 "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Those that believe - that have the Holy Spirit

John 7:39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive

Luke 24:49 "Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."

Acts 2:33 "Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

1 John 4:6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 "Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

LIFE IN MESSIAH

Being Effective

God’s Word tells us that if any man lacks wisdom he can ask of Him and receive it. Do we assume that receiving wisdom from Him is a protracted and uncertain process? It does not have to be, and there is nothing in God’s Word that suggests that it is. He has a great sense of timing, and if we seek wisdom from Him He can provide it immediately if needed. Abide in Him and we will be prepared to receive direction from Him when we need it, for we do not know when we will face a situation that requires us to respond quickly to His prompting, but if we walk with Him at all times, we will be ready when the time comes.

Words of Life

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Do we see how this was manifested in His life? So much of His ministry centered around words. The crowds marveled at the gracious words He spoke. Soldiers sent to apprehend Him returned to their superiors' empty handed saying, "Never a man spoke like this". He (The Word) spoke to the storm and calmed it, and to the tree and it withered. When He made a difficult statement that resulted in some of His followers departing, Peter faced the same choice and replied, 'To whom shall we go? For you have the words of life.' Do you see that this is still true? Listen to the words of life He yet speaks to us.

Saying

Messiah’s Words

"Do not let your peace depend on the words of men. Their thinking well or badly of you does not make you different from what you are. Where are true peace and glory? Are they not in Me? He who neither cares to please men nor fears to displease them will enjoy great peace, for all unrest and distraction of the senses arise out of disorderly love and vain fear."
― Thomas ΰ Kempis, The Imitation of Christ

The walls around Jerusalem had a purpose - in fact there will be a wall around the New Holy Jerusalem

Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.

Rev 21:12 Also she had a great and high wall with twelve gates, and twelve angels at the gates, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13 three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. 14 Now the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
