For His Glory!
Let the Wicked be Ashamed Last time we looked at David’s request that he not be put to shame because he trusted in and called upon YHVH. Why would he then ask that the wicked be put to shame? Who are the wicked? Once we recognize them, how should we handle them? Could it be that some are beyond help? Psalm 31:17 Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked<07563> be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. (Authorized Version) Poole Commentary: Ver. 17. The Wicked: TWOT: The word functions also as an adjective to designate in concrete terms the actions and conduct of a type of person. Wicked people … Ex 2:13 Nu 35:31 2Sa 4:11 2Ch 19:2 …hate the Lord. Their refusal to serve the Lord as a major trait Mal 3:18. Words semantically parallel to wicked include: `those who hate righteousness'; {Ps 34:22} `those who do evil' (Ps 28:3); `those who deal ruthlessly (Ps 71:4); `tyrant' (Isa 13:11 Job 15:20); `proud' (Ps 94:3) `arrogant' Isa 13:11; `foolish' (Ps 73:3 Ps 75:4) `scorners'; {Ps 1:1 Pr 9:7} `transgressors'; {Ps 37:38} `liars' (Ps 58:3; Ps 109:2) `faithless'; {Jer 12:1 Hab 1:13 Pr 2: } etc. Again, it is the Psalmist's fervent expectation that because he trusts in God, those who are attempting to destroy him must themselves be brought low in disgrace (Ps 6:10; Ps 109:28). What is wickedness? 1. In the Old Testament: 2. In the New Testament: David Roberts Dungan So how should we handle the wicked?
The wicked (those hostile to God or man) let shame upon them fall. Why? That they may consider their way and turn (submit) to YHVH; then He will not let them be put to shame. Psalm 83:16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Read about how John the Baptist handled those that came to him (Matthew 3:7-8 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, "You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance…) What did Yeshua (Jesus) say to those with wicked intent? Do we recognize the wicked and what wickedness really is? Are we too politically correct to call sin, sin? How else would the wicked see the error of their way and "…bear fruit in keeping with repentance…"? The Implacable Wicked: Oh YHVH, give us all a heart that will consistently seek You; help us turn from our own wicked ways. Let us not be ashamed for we put our trust in You. Yet "…let the wicked be ashamed…" Blessed be the name of YHVH. |
Many of the Proverbs are a contrast between the wicked and the righteous. We would be wise to use it as a check list for our own lives. Some Proverbs mentioning the characteristics of the wicked: Proverbs 6:12 … a wicked man, Is the one who walks with a perverse mouth, Our prayer should be: Psalm 139:23-24 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: |
"I don’t know any short cuts to doing a good job." Sandra Day O’Conner When the heart of a man is evil (wicked) he is always looking for a way to short change others; be it employer, the government or his God. They are intent on bringing down the righteous; good is not a part of their vocabulary. YHVH is just and will reward us according to our actions, our walk (our works); therefore do a good job. Proverbs 11:18 The wicked earns deceptive wages, But he who sows righteousness gets a true reward. Lamentations 3:64 You will recompense them, O LORD, According to the work of their hands. Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, |

In our pursuit of humility: (Lesson from humility in daily life.) "It is a solemn thought that our love for God is measured by our everyday relationships with others. Except as its validity is proven in standing the test of daily life with our fellowmen, our love for God may be found to be a delusion. It is easy to think that we humble ourselves before God, but our humility toward others is the only sufficient proof that our humility before God is real." Andrew Murray It is a solemn thought to know YHVH will judge us by our thoughts, intents and actions toward our fellowman. The second greatest command is to love our neighbor as ourselves. In 1John 4:20 it says, "If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. These are pretty strong words; being a liar is the trait of a wicked person. Psalm 28:3 Do not drag me away with the wicked And with those who work iniquity, Who speak peace with their neighbors, While evil is in their hearts. |
Andy Rooney DID YOU KNOW?As you walk up the steps to the building which houses the U.S Supreme Court you can see near the top of the building a row of the world's law givers and each one is facing one in the middle who is facing forward with a full frontal view .. it is Moses and he is holding the Ten Commandments! DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? "We have staked the whole of all our political institutions upon the DID YOU KNOW? "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? DID YOU KNOW? How, then, have we gotten to the point that everything we have done for 220 years in this country is now suddenly wrong and unconstitutional? It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT UP!!! |

Fear is a useless emotion; its only benefit from the flesh’s point of view is to justify our inaction. (Michael Boldea Jr.) |
A true realty bargain is when you get good neighbors. Warning to dieters: What’s on the table soon becomes what’s on the chair. True success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful. A pessimist is seldom disappointed. We do not remember days we remember moments. The one who has achieved success is the one who has worked well, laughed often and loved much. |
Psalm 1 (Contrast between the righteous and the wicked)1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish. Blessed be YHVH |
